Starting New

I understand starting new…  I received my Bachelor degree in 2000 from Christian Heritage College in San Diego, CA in International Business.  I worked unfulfilled in business for 7 years until I decided to go back to school.  I was driven to find something that would create a place for me to use parts of me that business had ignored. The season of renewal was in faith one step at a time. That season is now working on it’s second decade and I am so grateful I had the courage to change.

Change

I understand change… I spent most of my childhood in another country and I believe this really helps me to understand my clients who attend my counseling practice who come from such varied backgrounds. I find myself more open to understanding other points of view and cultures and being compassionate toward all people because of living overseas. Knowing what it is like to feel different in a different culture also helped me to understand my identity and find purpose. I know without a doubt I need my soul to be rooted deeply. Rooted in healthy family relationships, rooted in my identity as an American that is compassionate toward the people of the world, and rooted in my ability to adapt, learn and grow in any new environment.

Peace and Connection

I understand your desire for peace and connection... in your most significant relationships.  I am fortunate and blessed to be married to the love of my life since 2008.  Peace has been present amidst the years along with pain. The fusion process of finding the “us and we” that is our union, which is sometimes a daily thing, is something that is a purposeful and not always easy. I value her deeply. It’s been a process both of us have chosen to work to create a relationship of trust, love and connection so that our 2 boys can find safe and secure roots in our family. Without a doubt I know it’s been worth the effort and I choose to be intentional in this way daily. My hope is that my own journey and shared knowledge would be something that would encourage you to connect with your loved ones as well in healthy and attached ways.

Foundation

In order to be the best husband, father and counselor… I find it necessary to make sure my own soul is cared for and rooted deeply in the things that nourish me.  I make time to listen and sing songs that touch my soul. I enjoy reading biographies and history books. I journal and spend time reading the Bible.

In my belief and values… I see the world through the lens of Christianity. I am a Christian Counselor which means that I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the redemption of His blood that was provided for me on the Cross of Calvary.  My favorite verse in the Bible is

Philippians 1:6.
...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Although my counseling is Christian-based, I welcome the opportunity to connect and work with you even if your belief and values, religious views or background are different. At the core, I believe we are all human.  At the very least, my humanity will interact with yours in a commitment of well being to move forward and overcome obstacles or achieve goals.
