15- What makes me still marvel...
Day 15
(Following a 30-day walk through the Lord's Prayer. Day 14 covered the starting point of the Kingdom — scroll back if you missed it.)
Yesterday we looked at how essential it is to actually be part of the Kingdom, not just admire it from outside.
Today I want to sit in something that still makes me marvel, even after forty-five years of knowing Him as Lord and Savior.
For centuries, there was a people set apart by covenant — promises given, a system established, a whole architecture of sacrifice and law designed to maintain connection and communion with a holy God. It worked. But it also revealed something every time it was performed. The distance. The cost. The constant need for repetition because nothing offered could ever be final.
And then Jesus didn't reform the system.
He ended it by fulfilling it completely.
I am the way, the truth, and the life. Not a better path to the same destination. The destination itself, walking among us.
No more sacrificial system. No more priest standing between you and the holy of holies with a rope tied to his ankle. No more waiting for a system to be completed on your behalf year after year.
One sacrifice. Once. Forever sufficient. Hebrews 10.
I genuinely marvel at this. That God did not abandon the old covenant people — He fulfilled what He promised them and then opened the door wide enough for all who believe to walk through it. Jew and Gentile. Insider and outsider. The covenant kept its promise and became larger than anyone imagined it could.
And what waits on the other side of that door isn't just forgiveness. It's relationship. Communion. Being fully known and fully loved by Father, Son, and Spirit — the Triune God who has always existed in perfect relationship and chose to invite us into it.
That is the Kingdom Jesus announced.
Not a place. A relationship that a sacrificial system could only point toward and never fully deliver.
Are you living in the wonder of that — or has it become old news to you too?
