17- Sitting in where it already is...

Day 17

(Following a 30-day walk through the Lord's Prayer. Days 14-16 traced the Kingdom's beginning and its certain future. Today we land in its present.)

We have looked at where the Kingdom started. We have looked at where it is going. Today I want to sit in where it already is.

Because the Kingdom of God is not only behind us at the cross or ahead of us at the jasper wall. Jesus said something easy to read past — the kingdom of God is among you. Luke 17:21. Not someday. Among you. Right now.

I see this in the counseling room more than almost anywhere else.

A marriage that has been quietly dying for years finds one honest conversation it has avoided for a decade — and something shifts that no technique alone could produce. A person finally names the idol that has been costing them their life and, for the first time, chooses differently in that exact moment. A man who has never wept in front of another human being finally does, and something in him that has been closed for thirty years opens.

That is not therapy succeeding. That is the Kingdom breaking in.

Every act of obedience, every moment of true repentance, every small surrender of control to the rightful King — that is Thy Kingdom come, happening in ordinary time, in ordinary rooms, in ordinary people.

Romans 14:17 says the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Not someday. Now. In you, if you belong to Him.

So today — where is the Kingdom trying to break into your ordinary moment?

Not the moment after this one. This one.
