1- The Lord's Prayer — The Prayer you think you know...

Day 1

The prayer you think you know.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We have said these words so many times that familiarity has quietly stolen their weight.

But consider what they actually require of us.

Our sense of Father is already confused — shaped by earthly fathers who were limited, absent, harsh, or simply human. We bring that confusion to the throne without realizing it.

Our sense of hallowed is trampled. Reverence has been so diluted by a culture that holds nothing sacred that we barely know what the word is reaching for anymore.

And holiness — true holiness — is so far from our natural experience that when Isaiah stood in its actual presence, the only thing he could say was woe is me. Not worship first. Woe first. Because he finally knew what he was standing in front of.

What would it mean to pray this prayer as if every word cost something?

What would it do to your mind — your actual neurology — to sit in the weight of hallowed until it became more than a word?

That's what I want to explore this week. One line at a time. Because Jesus didn't give us this prayer to recite. He gave it to us to be transformed by.

Come back tomorrow.
